The Green

Fareham Bowling Club - The Green

The green was laid in 1974. It drains extremely well - mainly due to the white stuff seen in the pictures below, which is a thick layer of chalk from Portsdown Hill.

Currently the green is maintained on behalf of the club by the grounds maintenance department of Fareham Borough Council. They write:

"The green is scarified once per week through the season and mowed three times per week to a height of 4 mm subject to weather conditions. The edges are cut back using shears once per fortnight.

The grass is fertilised during the season on a fortnightly cycle. It is monitored for fungal infections or any pest and diseases and the appropriate treatments are carried out.
The green is renovated at the end of the season."

In recent years Fareham Bowling Club has been chosen as hosts for:
- the Bowls Hampshire (BH) County Club final
- Hampshire CBA vs Surrey CBA
- Hampshire CBA vs Kent CBA
- Hampshire CWBA vs Devon CWBA
- BH Divisional Finals
